2026-2027 Tuition Contract Cover Letter

Dear Parents,
 
Attached is the Tuition Contract and Addendum for the St. John Vianney Roman Catholic School 2026-2027 school year. Our parish is committed to providing a strong Catholic education. After a review of the budget and fundraising for this past school year, the parish has agreed upon the tuition rate of $2,800 per K-8 student. Annual tuition for the Pre-K4 program will be $1,550 for an 8-11am daily class and $1,550 for a 12pm-3pm afternoon program per student. The Pre-K3 program will be $1,400 for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, three days per week, and $1,550 for a full week program per student. The increase in tuition reflects our increase in staff to allow us the ability to offer a higher standard of academia to the students. Our school family relies so heavily on our fundraising goals, and because of the success this past year it was a smaller increase, but this trend must continue to avoid adding strain to the parish finances.
 
It is the Diocese’s goal that all schools be reliant on their parish for only 30% of their school budget. The congregation currently supplies the school with 37% of our operating costs. Our reliance on the parish is also reflected in the adherence to our tithing amount required. We encourage families to communicate if tuition becomes a strain and to please take advantage of our scholarship program. This is confidential and handled by the parish administration. Other charges and fees more fully described in the tuition contract and addendum include:
 

• Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $200/4K-8 student, $150/3K student
• Lunch Monitor Fee: $100/K-8 Family billed through FACTS in October
• Milk Fee: $18/Student
• Home and School Connection Dues: $20/Family
• Church Support:  $1000/Family to maintain the In-Pastorate tuition rate, due by December 31, 2026 or $700/Family if registered at another Catholic Parish outside of our Pastorate to maintain the Catholic but out-of-pastorate tuition rate.
• Annual Scrip Purchase: $3,000/Family by January 31, 2027. The SCRIP program benefits the school and each family as rebates can be earned from your purchases. Please contact the school office if you have questions about this important fundraiser.

 
Tuition does not cover the cost of educating your child. Our parish subsidizes a substantial amount per student and, therefore, every school family receives tuition assistance from the parish. The cost to educate one child in our school next year is approximately $7,100. The difference between the cost and the amount of tuition comes directly from parish funds. It is a gift from our parishioners to each of our students. If you need additional financial assistance, please contact the school office for an application. This application is confidential.
 
 
Fundraising and parental involvement are critical components in our school’s success. We rely on SCRIP and two major fundraisers, the fall fundraising sale (Charleston Wrap or an alternate) and the Annual Spring Fling, to help subsidize the cost of running the school, along with participation in our Stories with Santa. Participation in our Home and School fundraisers, the Turkey Raffle and the Color Run, is also heavily relied on to offer the students assemblies, help defer the costs of field trips, Trunk-or-Treat, Teacher Appreciation Week, and our annual Farm Day. The Addendum to the Tuition Contract for grades K-8 includes commitments to participate in the two fundraising events, use the SCRIP program, and sell raffle tickets.
 
There is abundant research demonstrating a strong correlation between parental involvement and student success. St. John Vianney is not simply a private school; it is a Catholic parochial school that models Catholic values, community service, commitment, and involvement. The Addendum outlines the commitment to ten (10) volunteer hours per family per school year. Volunteer hours are tracked and recorded in the Point application.
 
The charges accrued if a family does not meet the volunteer and participation requirements as outlined in the Addendum are as follows (please remember these are not pro-rated regardless of registration date):
 

• $500 per Family if the ten (10) volunteer hour commitment is not met.
• $300 per household if the household does not attend the Spring Fling and participate in the fall fundraiser, selling $150 dollars of products, or sell $300 worth of products in the fall. 
• $300 per Family if the SCRIP requirement is not met by January 31, 2027
• $200 per Family if the Thanksgiving Turkey tickets are not sold by November 1, 2026
• Increased Tuition Rate to Out of Parish if the tithing requirement is not met by December 31, 2026. 

 
New and current families will use the application link on our website admissions page under the “How to Apply” tab to complete the registration form, tuition contract, and electronically sign the Discipline Policy and the Parent/Student Handbook. Please have this process completed by Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Contracts of current students returned after this date will accrue a $25.00 late fee. Please update all information on your Facts Family Portal as well to ensure that we have all current addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and birthdates in the system. The non-refundable registration fee due for each student will be billed through FACTS immediately upon completion of the tuition contract.
